KAWS + Warhol

The left image is of Andy Warhol's painting entitled Ambulance Disaster (1964-65) depicting a bloodied man laying halfway out of a crashed Ambulance's side window. The image on the right is a sculpture entitled Companion 2020 (2020) by KAWS. The sculpture is of a cartoon like figure laying face down, appearing exhausted and defeated.

Three rows of four oxidation paintings. Each painting features a patch of deep blue-green oxidation against a copper background. Some of the paintings near the top of the arrangement also include silver. The paintings in the lower portion of the arrangement tend to be darker.

Andy Warhol’s Social Network: Interview, Television and Portraits

A painting consisting of a burnt sienna background and illustrations of dollar signs. There are 20 illustrations total, arranged in four rows of five. Each dollar sign is rendered in varying colors, from bright blues and oranges to deep purples and reds. It appears as if the dollar signs were first screen printed with opaque silhouettes, and then overlaid with a dollar sign template that appears more painterly, as if sketched with colored pencils.

The Warhol’s Youth Arts Council Presents: Reprogrammed

In this painting, a gloved hand gingerly touches a mirror. The painting is mostly rendered in black and white, but the gloved hand and the label on a nearby bottle of hand sanitizer are both red. In the mirror’s reflection, the hand is shown without a glove, as if the person pictured is grasping for a return to normalcy but it’s as distant as making touch with your own reflection.

Firelei Báez: Bloodlines

In this bust portrait of a woman with dark skin she sits in profile with her head turned 45 degrees to look directly at the viewer. She has dark brown eyes and wears an elaborate headdress that fills the top half of the vertical portrait. The headdress is a variety of whites, beiges, browns, and a bit of blue where the fabric folds creating shadows. It includes a variety of decorative patterns, and one of the patterns includes black panthers.
