Making ItShadow Painting

Warhol’s colorful, abstract Shadow paintings from the 1970s are the inspiration for this simple art activity. Using a task lamp and objects around the house, we cast and trace shadows, then add details and color to bring our images to life. This flexible activity is fun and accessible for young children, making it possible for them to incorporate complex figures and objects into their artworks. It also provides a meditative drawing experience for adults of all ages, asking us to slow down and focus on form.
