Past Event Off the Wall: 2011 – An Evening with Ragnar Kjartansson and Friends

Ragnar Kjartansson is an artist whose work has been shown from Venice to Sundance, and a founding member of the Icelandic band Trabant (“part political satire, part space rock and plenty experimental,” according to PBS). For this special one-night-only affair, Ragnar invites his friends and family along for an intimate vaudeville-style show at the Carnegie Music Hall. Though this group performs together on Sunday evenings at Ragnar´s mother´s house in Reykjavík, this unique performance marks the group’s first public appearance.
Ásdís Sif Gunnarsdóttir is a performance and video artist who has written a melodramatic play to coincide with the evening’s concert. Davíð Þór Jónsson is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, performer and composer who has worked intensively with Ragnar and Ásdís. And Ragnar’s three nieces will take a break from their ongoing Hall of Sculpture performance to join the group in the Music Hall.

This performance is co-presented with The Carnegie Museum of Art, in connection with the exhibition, Forum 66: Ragnar Kjartansson on view at the Carnegie Museum of Art March 11 – September 25, 2011
