Carole Brueckner and Becky Slemmons will lead a dialogue in theWord of God: Jeffrey Vallance exhibition presenting their own professional perspectives as reliquary guide and artist. Carole Bruckner is the head docent at St. Anthony’s Chapel, located on Troy Hill, which overlooks the Allegheny River on Pittsburgh’s North Side. This Shrine, dedicated to “The Wonder Worker” — Saint Anthony of Padua, houses the largest public collection of relics in the World (over 5000 relics) and has been designated a Historical Landmark by the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation.  Becky Slemmons is an artist working in the disciplines of drawing, painting, video, performance, 3-D and fibers. She holds masters degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago andMaryland Institute College of Art, Mt Royal School of Art. Becky shows her work throughout UScities and as of next month, also in Berlin, Germany. She visited 100 religious spots, to explore the relationship of the ritual of attending service, to that of art-making and share art with strangers. She wore a dress and accumulated images from her experiences; collecting a bit of spirit, art and mementos.
