This compilation program, mined from Pittsburgh’s own The Orgone Archive, treats viewers to a cinematic art history lesson beginning with the cave drawings of early man to the painted demons of the 16th century through the impressionists, abstract expressionists and pop artists of the 20th century. A variety of documentary styles and film techniques showcase the art of Pieter Bruegel, Hieronymus Bosch, Edgar Degas, Jackson Pollock, Gertrude & Otto Natzler, Claes Oldenburg, and Andy Warhol. Will Vinton and Bob Gardiner’s claymation classic Closed Mondays complements the program by humorously illustrating the power of art.
