 Mark Nugent’s Manual Labor (1987)

Indelible Mark, ACE: Selections from tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE’s Movie Archive: Direct-on-Film / Optical Printing is the 2nd of a series of public screenings of work by friends of the curator from around the world.  The restriction of the work to that of friends is important for putting a personal slant on media use.  The theme of the program appeals to low-budget filmmakers who prefer to work intimately with the specific qualities of the medium – in this case such things as direct manipulation of 16mm film stock & extensive rephotography.

tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE is a Homonymphonemiac / Practicing PromoTextual / Air Dresser / Sprocket Scientist / headitor & earchivist / Explicator who’s made 358 movies to date & who’s traveled the world for over 30 years seeking like-minded obsessives to trade with.  Programs from his movie archive are indicators of his success in this area.

The program:

Pull & Tear the White Air 2 to 9 (1992) by Rebecca Barten  6:08 min.
Rote Movie (1994) by Dirk DeBruyn  11:31 min.
RE:CYCLE (1992) by Ken Doolittle  22:30 min.
